Orthopaedic Surgeons

William A. Grana, MD, MPH
Dr. Grana is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.  He has been a medical staff member at numerous distinguished athletic events throughout his career.  He was a member of the United States Olympic Committee Medical Staff at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul, South Korea, Head Physician for the U.S. team at the 1987 Pan American Games and a physician member of the 1985 U.S.  Olympic Committee's Winter World University Games in Italy.  Dr. Grana served as a consultant to the Chicago White Sox when they were in Tucson and also as a consultant for The University of Arizona Athletics through 2008. 

Dr. Grana received his medical degree from Harvard University in 1968 and earned a masters degree in public health administration and policy from the University of Oklahoma in 1995.  In 2009, he received the prestigious honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, one of only 40 such honorees over the last three decades.

L. Daniel Latt, MD, PhD
L. Daniel Latt, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.  Dr. Latt earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2002.  He completed residency training in orthopaedic surgery at McGill University in Montreal, Canada in 2007.  He has fellowship training in sports medicine from Kaiser San Diego, and foot and ankle surgery from Duke University.

Dr. Latt specializes in the care of athletic injuries of the shoulder, knee, ankle and foot.  He is particularly interested in complex lower extremity reconstruction and realignment, cartilage injuries, patellofemoral disorders and arthroscopy of the ankle, knee and shoulder.  He has a special interest in the treatment of ankle arthritis using total ankle replacement.

Dr. Latt sees patients at The University of Arizona Medical Center - Sports Medicine Clinic on The University of Arizona Medical Center - South Campus located at 2800 E. Ajo Way, and at the Human Motion Institute located at 707 N. Alvernon Way.

Peg Chilvers, MD
Dr. Chilvers is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Arizona. She specializes in foot and ankle injuries. Dr. Chilvers' career began as an athletic trainer with the UofA Athletics Department. After three years, she decided to pursue a career in medicine and attended medical school at Southern Illinois University. She returned to the University of Arizona and completed her residency with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. She finished her education with a fellowship in foot and ankle medicine at the Michigan International Foot and Ankle Center where she was an AO Fellow.  Following her fellowship, she was hired at MIFAC as a foot and ankle specialist where she worked until her return to Arizona.  She is currently practicing at The University of Arizona Medical Center - Sports Medicine Clinic on The University of Arizona Medical Center - South Campus and the Human Motion Institute Clinic located at 707 N. Alvernon Way.


 


 

Primary Care Sports Medicine Physicians

Holly McNulty, MD
Dr. McNulty is Associate Fellowship Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at The University of Arizona College of Medicine and oversees primary care at The University of Arizona Medical Center - Sports Medicine Clinic.  Dr. McNulty is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. She is a certified ImPACT specialist and works with local high schools in the management of sports-related concussions. Dr. McNulty has special expertise in the health of endurance athletes. She completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine and a residency in Family Medicine at The University of Arizona College of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno.

Don Porter, MD
Dr. Porter is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He has been Head Team Physician for The University of Arizona Athletics program since 1989. In addition, he is a staff physician at Campus Health at the UA and teaches sports medicine to medical students, residents and fellows. He is a certified ImPACT Specialist and is an expert at managing concussions in athletes through neurocognitive testing and treatment. Dr. Porter earned his medical degree at The University of Arizona and completed his residency in Family Medicine at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
 

Anna Waterbrook, MD
Dr. Waterbrook is Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at The University of Arizona and has completed her fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine. She works as an Assistant Team Physician for The University of Arizona athletes and is also an Assistant Fellowship Director for the UA Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. She has extensive experience in the acute management of injured athletes both on and off the field.
