The Department of Emergency Medicine at University Physicians Hospital Kino Campus 


The University of Arizona (UA)/UPHK GME Consortium offers a three-year emergency medicine residency program combining clinical training, academic activities and research opportunities.  

Our Mission
"Our mission is to develop excellent leaders in emergency medicine by immersing our residents in an intellectually stimulating, culturally fulfilling and compassionate environment."

Our Patients
We care for a substantial proportion of our city's uninsured and underinsured and are home to a great many patients with a complex blend of medical, social and psychiatric problems.  As we are not limited to these groups, the following patients are commonly seen in our ED:

  • Latino patients (who may or may not be citizens of the US)
  • Snowbirds (people who spend their winters in Arizona, but not live in other parts of the US for the remainder of the year)
  • Arizona natives and ranchers
  • Native American patients
