Leave of Absense
Purpose:
In order to comply with the ACGME Common Program Requirements for Graduate Medical Education Leaves of Absence, this policy is set for by the University of Arizona/UPHK Graduate Medical Education Consortium Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC).
Policy:
All requests for unpaid leaves of absence must be submitted to the program director with a letter indicating the reason for the leave and the proposed leave schedule, which first must be approved by the program director before being forwarded to the GME Office for handling in accordance with the University Handbook for Appointed Personnel, Section 8.04.01.
Any protracted leave of absence may affect the completion date of the residency program. Any effect on the completion of residency will be determined by the program director in consultation with the requirements of the specialty's certifying board's criteria.
