Urology Residency Program

Urology Residency Program Overview
The University of Arizona is home to the state's first medical school and the Section of Urology is the oldest urology program in Arizona.  The Urology training program has been educating medical students and residents for over thirty years.  The legacy of Dr. George Drach, the founding Chief of Urology for the University, is alive and well.  The Section of Urology continues a commitment to excellence in patient care, ground-breaking research, and exceptional resident education.  The objectives of our residency program are to provide excellent comprehensive clinical training in all aspects of urology and to create an atmosphere for discovery and service.

Each of our faculty has expertise in the diagnosis and management of common and complex urologic disease.  We offer comprehensive and multi-disciplinary surgical and medical care for all types of urologic disorders, including:  urologic cancers (oncology), stone disease, incontinence, reconstruction of the urinary tract, impotence, prostate diseases, abnormal bladder function, infections of the urinary system, pediatric urology, and complicated deformities of the urinary system.  Our faculty has advanced training and proficiency in modern surgical technologies including robotic, laparoscopic, and endoscopic procedures.  The involvement of our faculty in laboratory, translational, and clinical investigations means that we can offer our residents broad exposure to basic and clinical research.

We currently offer a five-year training program in which we provide our residents with a superlative training opportunity.  One categorical position is available for the first year of training and two positions every other year for the 3rd year training in urology.
