Dermatology is the branch of medicine involved in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and disorders of the skin, nails and hair.  Dermatologists also analyze the relationship between skin abnormalities and irregularities of other organs in the body. 

Special Programs

Multidisciplinary Cutaneous Oncology Clinic joins together dermatology, surgery, radiation, and hematology-oncology to provide comprehensive treatment to patients with melanoma.

Ultraviolet Therapy is offered to patients with severe psoriasis.  UVA and UVB radiation (both of which are components of natural sunlight) destroy the skin cells that form psoriasis patches. 

Pigmented Lesion Clinic monitors and treats patients with pigmented lesions and at an increased risk for developing melanoma. 

Wound Management: UPH dermatologists apply Unna Boots (special medicated wrapping to help heal severe wounds).

Mohs Micrographic Surgery is a delicate surgery process used to remove melanomas on sensitive areas such as the face while preserving as much of the surrounding, healthy tissue as possible.  

Cosmetic Surgery: multiple laser skin and hair removal treatments are available.  Cosmetic surgery procedures are self-pay. 

Community Outreach

Weekly Grand Rounds are open to community physicians. Grand Rounds are presented each Wednesday morning at 7:00am at UPH Clinics at Wilmot (535 N. Wilmot Road).
