The Base Hospital program is managed and administered by EMS Medical Director, Daniel Beskind, MD, MPH, FACEP and Prehospital Coordinator, Mary McDonald, BSN, RN. As a Base Hospital, The University of Arizona Medical Center - South Campus is responsible for quality prehospital patient management, emergency medical services (EMS) medical supervision as well as providing continuing education to EMS providers and Emergency Department staff. Emergency Department staff use online radio medical communications with field personnel, and administers and supervises pre-hospital care rendered by EMS providers based with the South Campus Hospital. In collaboration with the other base hospitals and EMS administrators, staff develop and implement system-wide EMS standards of care.
