We start interviewing as early as November and end as late as February. How can I apply to your program?
This year, applications should be submitted through ERAS. Please be sure to follow the ERAS application guidelines. Please also be sure to have three letters of recommendation, a personal statement, curriculum vitae, copy of your transcripts, Dean's Letter, ECFMG certificate, and your USMLE scores forwarded to us. In addition, we would appreciate receiving each applicant's photograph. Do you offer a transitional year (PGY-1) with your program?
Yes, this Neurology Residency program is categorical; therefore it does include the PGY-1 year. How many positions are you offering through the match this year?
Two PGY-1 Neurology Residency positions. Do you have a cut-off for USMLE scores to consider the application?
We require residency applicants to submit USMLE scores on both Step One and Step Two. The Selection Committee generally looks for scores of 85 or higher, but reviews the entire application and does not base its decisions on USMLE scores. Does the program require USMLE Step 2 to be completed by a certain date to be considered as an applicant?
USMLE Step 2 must be completed prior to the match. Does your program accept international medical graduates?
Yes it does. USMLE Step 1 & 2 must be completed prior to the match. Successful Step 3 completion is preferred. What types of visas do you sponsor?
We sponsor H1B visas. Please visit the International Scholars Home page for information regarding visas. Is there a cut-off for time from medical school graduation to be considered for an interview?
We typically interview candidates who have graduated from medical school within the past 10 years. Rare exceptions are made in case the candidate has done clinical work in neurology for a substantial period since graduation. How many call days are residents required to take each month?
Call days are as follows:PGY-1: 7-8 nights per monthPGY-2: 3-4 nights per monthPGY-3: 2-3 nights per monthPGY-4: 1-3 nights per month. This is an approximation determined by how many residents are in the program at a given time. Do you require or strongly encourage research?
Research is not required; however, research opportunities are available. Some of our residents have elected to become involved in research electives and we strongly support this. Do you require any clinical experience?
No, we do not. However, U.S. clinical experience is preferred for IMG applicants. What PGY-3 and PGY-4 electives are offered?
