AMBULATORY EXPERIENCE
The ambulatory care experience is central to the training of the general internist and is critical for a physician practicing in more remote or underserved areas. This experience begins in internship with a weekly continuity clinic that continues through all three years of residency. Under close supervision from a general medicine faculty mentor, residents will manage a panel of clinic patients with a wide variety of chronic illnesses and socioeconomic backgrounds. Additional ambulatory experience will be obtained from rotations through medical subspecialties, as well as geriatrics, with ample exposure to orthopedic, ophthalmologic, dermatologic, and HIV related issues.
