APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Positions are offered through the National Registry Matching Program (NRMP). Applications are accepted only through ERAS.  The applications deadline is November 6, 2009. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered for an interview.

A complete application consists of:

  • ERAS Application
  • Photograph (required)
  • Personal Statement
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation
  • Dean’s Letter or Proof of Graduation
  • Medical School Transcripts
  • Curriculum Vitae or Resume - Please explain any gaps in training since graduation.
  • USMLE or COMLEX scores. Scores will be evaluated individually.
  • US clinical experience is desirable, but not required.
  • If you have not graduated within the last 10 years, ongoing clinical responsibility and/or residency/fellowship training is required.
  • Contact the Dean’s office of your medical school for further information regarding this process.

As a condition of employment, all new University of Arizona residents must obtain a valid fingerprint clearance card, in accordance with A.R.S. § 15-1881, and pass a criminal background check.

INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL SCHOOL GRADUATES APPLICATION PROCESS
International applicants must meet the following additional requirements:

  • Applicant must have passed USMLE step 1 and USMLE step 2 (CK).
  • Applicants must have either taken and passed, or applied to take USMLE step 2 (CS) by the time of application to the residency program.
  • USMLE step 3 is not required for residency training. EXCEPTION: Visa applicants – see below.
  • ECFMG certification and USMLE step 2 (CS) must be verified by the time of Match.

VISA INFORMATION
The program considers sponsorship of J1 or H1B1 visas for international applicants. If offered, we pay the standard fees for the cost of the visa. Any premium processing fees are the responsibility of the applicant. Sponsorship is at the discretion of the program.
NOTE: H1B1 applicants must verify a passing score on USMLE step 2 (CS) and USMLE step 3 by January 15, 2010.
