WELCOME LETTER FROM OUR PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Welcome to prospective residents and students of the UA/UPHK GME Consortium Residency Program!

The faculty group is pleased to have you explore our website as part of your emergency medicine career planning.  We are confident that you will discover University Physicians Hospital Kino Campus provides a unique experience in emergency medicine with plenty of opportunities for you to expand your educational horizons.  We are a new EM residency program, with the first class that begun July, 2010.

Why would you want to be a resident here?

As a student or resident in the Southwest, you will be immersed in a multi-cultural experience unlike any other, as we treat a high volume of patients from the Hispanic and Native American cultures.  The unique curriculum focuses on Border Health and International Medicine and even includes a Spanish Language immersion.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to work with acute psychiatric illnesses and substance abuse in our emergency behavioral health unit.

Our faculty are nationally known University of Arizona physicians and includes experts in toxicology, sports medicine, EMS, Education, Research, Critical Care, Simulation and Disaster Preparedness.  We have a commitment to resident and student education.

New Horizons
This is an exciting time of growth at University Physicians Hospital Kino Campus as we build for the future! In a constant effort to treat the underserved in Tucson, the building of our new state-of-the-art emergency department began in the fall of 2009.  It will consist of 54 beds and will allow us to provide a high level of service to the ever-expanding south side of Tucson.

Again, welcome! If you are interested in our Emergency Medicine residency program based here at University Physicians Hospital Kino Campus please contact us at emresidency@uph.org or submit your application via ERAS to set up your interview today!
