Dr. Beskind attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Arizona. He has completed fellowships in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and holds a Master's in Public Health. His current interests include EMS, disaster preparedness, teaching case based instruction to first and second year medical students, and as core faculty, teaching the fourth year emergency medicine curriculum to medical students.

Kurt Denninghoff, MD

Dr. Denninghoff is a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Biomedical Engineering and completed an Emergency Medicine Residency at LSU Charity Hospital. He has served in the leadership of four research centers funded by the NIH, CDC, and AHRQ and has held 4 NIH grants. He is an expert in neurological research and clinical device development. His academic interests include resident research, faculty development, optical instrumentation and neurological emergencies.

Kristi Grall, MD, MHPE

Dr. Grall began her training at the Medical College of WI and her residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. She has completed a fellowship in Education and holds a Master of Health Professions Education degree from University of Illinois. Her current interests include medical education, curriculum development, methodology, and simulation. Dr. Grall serves as a member and the Vice Chair for the AZMed Education Policy Committee.

Ashish R. Panchal, MD, PhD

Dr. Panchal began his career as a researcher completing a PhD at Case Western Reserve University goin on to The Ohio State University College of Medicine for medical school and an Emergency Medicine Residency. His interests include medical education, emergency ultrasonography and cardiovascular research focusing on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, emergent cardiology and cardiac imaging. Dr. Panchal is currently a Society Mentor for the College of Medicine and teaches a longitudinal elective in resuscitation. He is a member of the Sarver Heart Center CPR Research Group, the Assistant Research Focus Unit Director for Clinical and Translational Research in the Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center, nationally active in the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care Research Working Group and is a liaison to the Basic Life Support Committee.

Mazda Shirazi, MD, PhD

Dr. Shirazi is the Medical Director of the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center at The University of Arizona College of Pharmacy and Vice-head of Emergency Medicine at The University of Arizona College of Medicine South Campus. He completed an MD, PhD at the University of Arizona and then went to the University of Texas for his residency. Currently, he is an Emergency Medicine and Medical Toxicology attending. Dr. Shirazi is interested in envenomations and is the principal investigator in a phase III pit viper Antivenom trial. He consults with the Arizona Poision/Drug Information Center.

Lisa Stoneking, MD

Dr. Stoneking began her training at the University of Akron, attended medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University in Rootstown, Ohio and completed her residency at Palmetto Health Richland Medical Center in Columbia, SC. She recently completed the Clinical Scholars Program at the University of Arizona focusing on faculty development. Her current research interests include sepsis and compliance with clinical guidelines, ultrasound and medical education.

Srikar Adhikari, MD, MS, RDMS

Dr. Adhikari is currently Chief of the Emergency Ultrasound section and Director of Emergency Ultrasound at the University of Arizona. He completed Emergency Medicine residency training at Cook County Hospital. He subsequently completed a fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at Medical College of Georgia. He served as Emergency Ultrasound Director at the University of Nebraska for 4 years. He authored several manuscripts and book chapters in Emergency Ultrasound and lectured at national and international venues. He has also served on several national committees related to point-of-care ultrasound.

Richard Amini, MD

Dr. Berkman is a graduate from the University of Arizona College of Medicine and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center Harvard Affiliated Emergency Medicine Residency. He is currently the faculty advisor for the University of Arizona College of Medicine Emergency Medicine Club. Dr. Berkman has interest in international Emergency Medicine, working in Australia and teaching Emergency Ultrasound in Vietnam.

Lawrence DeLuca, MD, EdM

Dr. DeLuca entered EM from the field of human health and fitness. He received his EdM in Human Movement from Boston University in 2000. He attended medical school at the University of Miami and completed his residency as well as fellowships in EM Research and Surgical Critical Care at the University of Arizona. He is the first EM-trained Intensivist at the UA Health Network and he is currently an attending physician both in the ED and the Cardiothoracic ICU. His current research interests are related to less invasive monitoring of critical ill patients.

Isaac Farrell, MD

Dr. Farrell is a graduate from the University of Colorado. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the Lincoln Medical Center NY, NY. Currently, he is completing a faculty development program in the Arizona Clinician Scientist Program with research focusing on emergent Cardiac Imaging, Emergent Cardiology, Health care cost effectiveness and utilization review.

Dr. Gaither is the Associate Base Hospital Medical Director for The University of Arizona Medical Center. He began his training at Northern Arizona University and attended medical school at the University of Arizona. Dr. Gaither completed his residency training at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT and a fellowship in pre-hospital and disaster medicine at Denver Health in Denver, CO. His current research interests include pre-hospital management of critically ill patients, management of mass casuality events and triage systems.

Rishi Goyal, MD, PhD

Dr. Goyal received his MD and his PhD in English and Comparative Literature from Columbia University. During his year as Chief Resident at New York Presbyterian, he helped develop disaster medicine drills in Sri Lanka and India and also defended his dissertation, "The 'Last But One': Old Age and the Modernist Novel". In the spring of 2012, Dr. Goyal will be teaching a seminar in the English department entitled, "Medicine and Literature: Imaging Illness" and will have a joint appointment as Assistant Professor of English Literature.

Spencer Greene, MD, MS, FACEP

Dr. Greene earned his MS in immunology from Long Island University and his MD from Albany Medical College. He completed his emergency medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN and his medical toxicology fellowship at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, AZ. He is one of the Core Medical Student Treaching Faculty for the required 4th-year emergency medicine clerkship and he serves as a consultant for the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center. His areas of interest include envenomations, withdrawal, anticonsvulsant toxicity and hazardous materials.

Travis Jones, MD

Bernhard Knoblich, MD

Dr. Knoblich is a graduate from University of Vienna Medical school. He then completed residencies at Henry Ford Hospital in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine and is double boarded in EM and FP. He then completed a Fellowship in Resuscitation Research at Henry Ford Hospital with Dr. Emanuel Rivers. Dr. Knoblich was involved in the landmark paper on sepsis treatment with Early Goal Directed Therapy. His research interests include the management and treatment of sepsis.

Dr. Schmier attended undergraduate and medical school at the University of Arizona. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and also completed a fellowship with Christiana Care Health System in Newark/Wilmington, Delaware in Emergency Ultrasound. His professional interests include point-of-care ultrasound, medical student education and improving care in rural and limited resource environments.

Charlene Shaughnessy, MD

Dr. Shaughnessy attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga as an undergraduate where she received a Bachelor's of Science in exercise science cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. She then decided to attend the University of Arizona for her medical school training and completed her residency with the University of Arizona in Emergency Medicine. She is interested in the integration of emergency and sports medicine.

Dr. Waterbrook completed her fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the University of Arizona and has completed her fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine. She works as an assistant team physician for the University of Arizona athletes. She has extensive experience in the acute management of injured athletes both on and off the field.
