- University Physicians Healthcare provides patients with access to the expertise and groundbreaking research of The University of Arizona College of Medicine.
- It is a nonprofit corporation created by The University of Arizona in 1985 as the medical practice of the physicians of the UA College of Medicine.
- The largest physician practice in Arizona, UPH employs over 350 physicians who are full-time faculty of the College of Medicine, as well as over 1,500 nurses, patient care technicians, business associates and other staff.
- UPH, University Medical Center and The University of Arizona work together to care for patients, educate students, train physicians and other health care professionals, and advance clinical science to diagnose and treat human disease.
Health Care: UPH physicians provide state-of-the-art medical and surgical care in nearly every area of practice including women’s health, pediatrics, family practice, orthopaedic surgery and trauma. They practice at University Physicians Hospital, University Medical Center and at numerous climics across Tucson and Sierra Vista. They perform bone marrow, heart and kidney transplants and care for the severely injured at the UMC trauma center and its emergency service programs.
Education: As faculty of the UA College of Medicine, UPH physicians are directly involved in educating 400 medical students and training 450 post-graduate medical residents annually.
Research: UPH physicians conduct research at the Arizona Cancer Center, the Steele Children’s Research Center, the Arizona Arthritis Center, the University of Arizona Sarver Heart Center and many other facilities and programs.
