Lawrence Aldrich 
Interim Chief Executive Office; Senior Vice President of Corporate Operations and General Counsel

Larry Aldrich is an attorney with over 25 years of proven leadership abilities in diverse business positions.  As Senior Vice President of Corporate Operations and General Counsel he is responsible for various corporate departments at UPH, including Legal/Risk, Information Systems, Electronic Medical Records, Marketing/Business Development/Contracts Administration and Facilities.

Prior to joining UPH, Larry was the founding Chief Operating Officer at The Critical Path Institute (C-Path), a non-profit medical research organization focused on improving the safety and efficacy of the drug development process through the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.  He also served as the president and CEO of Tucson Newspapers.  Larry received his law degree from Tulane Law School and his civil engineering degree from Georgia Institute of Technology.

Jean M. Tkachyk, BS, CPA
Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Operations

Jean Tkachyk is an Arizona licensed certified public accountant with 23 years of healthcare experience including eight years in public accounting and 15 years as the CFO for University Physicians Healthcare.  She graduated from The University of Arizona in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

Norman A. Botsford, MBA
Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Norm Botsford has 29 years of healthcare experience of which 13 years have been with University Physicians Healthcare. As president and CEO he is responsible for billing and collections, physician compensation, practice and hospital administration, Medicaid managed care, strategic planning, corporate compliance, risk management/malpractice insurance and facilities and support.  He graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1975 with a Master of Business Administration degree.

Richard Mandel, MD
Chief Medical Officer 

Dr. Mandel is a graduate of the New York University School of Medicine, New York City. A specialist in infectious diseases, he has been with UPH and on the faculty of the UA College of Medicine since 1989. As medical director, he is responsible for the supervision of medical staff, the development of hospital programs, policies and procedures, and assisting recruitment of physicians at University Physicians Hospital.

Mary Donahoe
Vice President, Clinical & Support Services

Mary Donahoe directs the activities of ancillary and support departments at University Physicians Hospital, including environmental services, laboratory, maintenance and plant operations, materials resources, nutrition, pharmacy, radiology, rehabilitation and respiratory therapy/cardiac services.  Mary has over 20 years of healthcare experience, with a strong background in operations, leadership development, performance improvement and patient safety. She has a bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology from Merrimack College (North Andover, MA) and master’s degrees in Education (Boston State College, Boston) and Business Administration (Northeastern University, Boston).

John Collins
Chief Financial Officer

John Collins has 23 years of financial and accounting experience in diversified health care environments. He has valuable knowledge in budget controls, cost accounting, contract negotiations and materials management, which enables him to provide exceptional leadership in developing financial goals and procedures. He has a bachelor's degree in accounting from San Diego State University and received the Vanguard Financial Achievement Award in 2002.

Debra Hartman, RN
Director of Quality Outcomes and Risk Management

Debra Hartman, RN is accomplished in developing strong processes in Quality, Regulatory, Risk and Case Management, as well as in several other areas that result in excellent services.

Elizabeth Warner, RN
Administrator of Behavioral Health Services

Liz Warner is responsible for quality outcomes programs at University Physicians Hospital and Clinics. This area encompasses the Acute Medical Surgical Case Management Program, Utilization Review for Behavioral Services, the Infection Control Program, Patient Advocacy, Accreditation Survey Readiness, and Quality Process Improvement Projects. Liz has over 28 years of varying Nursing and Clinical experience with progressive leadership roles emphasizing medical/surgical and ICU nursing, nursing informatics, quality projects and management, clinical project development and implementation, leadership development and staff education.

A Tucson native, Liz attended Pima Community College and earned an associate’s degree in Nursing. Her bachelor’s of Nursing Science was completed through the University of Phoenix. Liz is currently attending Grand Canyon University and working on earning a master's of Nursing Science with a Leadership emphasis as well as a master's in Business Administration.

Melinda Montoya, CPC, RN, BSN, JD
Legal Counsel/Compliance Officer

Melinda Montoya has been in healthcare for 22 years. Upon receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1987, Melinda worked at Carondelet St. Mary's Hospital as a cardiac nurse and as a per diem nurse at Kino Community Hospital. In May 1993, Melinda received her Juris Doctorate in law and was sworn into the Arizona bar in October 1993. Her career then moved from the clinical arena into healthcare administration as a Corporate Risk Management Director and then Corporate Compliance Officer when she began Cardondelet Health Network's first Compliance Program. 

Melinda joined UPH in March 2000 as Corporate Compliance Officer, and became certified as a coder. When UPH assumed operations of the former County Hospital, she transitioned into the Legal Counsel position and now also oversees hospital compliance.
